Founder of Goryeo, who united the Later Three Kingdoms.
Key events
He founded Goryeo in 918 after the overthrow of Gung Ye. Silla's submission and the defeat of Later Baekje brought unification in 936.
Legacy
He united the Later Three Kingdoms through war and relationships with regional powers. Accommodation and alliance helped sustain the resulting state.
