King Sejong

The king who led Hangul's creation and supported science and culture.
Key events
Joseon's fourth king reigned from 1418 to 1450. He supported the Hall of Worthies, research and publications in agriculture, astronomy, calendars, and music, and created Hunminjeongeum.
Legacy
The creation of Hunminjeongeum is Sejong's defining achievement. He is also remembered for institutional reform and sustained support for scholarship, science, and technology.
