Kim Banggyeong

A Goryeo commander whose long career crossed the upheavals of Mongol intervention.
Key events
During the Mongol invasions, Kim Banggyeong helped refugees secure farmland and water storage. Later, he commanded in the suppression of Sambyeolcho and the joint invasions of Japan.
Legacy
Both expeditions to Japan failed. His service reflects the difficult position of a Goryeo commander required to fight in wars shaped by Yuan power.
