A Neo-Confucian scholar and diplomat loyal to the Goryeo dynasty.
Key events
He taught Neo-Confucian learning at Seonggyungwan and served as an envoy to Ming and Japan. His defense of Goryeo brought conflict with the future founders of Joseon; he was killed in 1392.
Legacy
A diplomat and Neo-Confucian scholar loyal to Goryeo, he became a symbol of fidelity. His actual work extended well beyond that later image.
