Jeon Bongjun

A leader of the 1894 Donghak Peasant Revolution.

He led Donghak peasant forces in 1894 after an uprising against the abuses of Gobu magistrate Jo Byeonggap. He demanded reform, but the renewed uprising was defeated by Japanese and government troops.
Legacy
He led peasants from resistance to local exploitation toward broader reform and anti-foreign action. The movement made ordinary cultivators political participants.
