Eulji Mundeok
The Goguryeo commander associated with victory over Sui at Salsu.
Key events
During the Sui invasion of 612, he inspected the enemy camp and drew the army onward through repeated withdrawals. Samguk Sagi records his attack on the retreating Sui forces at Salsu.
Legacy
In Yeongjaejip, Yu Deukgong praised his combined literary and military ability. Yi Gyubo, in Baegun Soseol, admired the forceful spirit of his poem.
