Early Chinese accounts tell of Dongmyeong’s extraordinary birth, a ruler’s attempt to kill him, and his escape across a river. He goes on to establish Buyeo.
Legacy
His story resembles that of Jumong, also called Dongmyeongseongwang. The shared name and motifs do not establish that they were the same person.
